2EE5103 - ELECTRICAL POWER SYS - II

Electrical Power Systems–II (EPS-2) deals with the analysis, operation, control, and protection of electrical power systems.

Electrical Power Systems-II (EPS-2) provides students with an in-depth understanding of the analysis, operation, control, and protection of modern electrical power systems. The course covers important topics such as symmetrical components, short-circuit fault analysis, load flow studies, power system stability, and protective schemes used in electrical networks. Students learn to analyze power system performance under normal and abnormal operating conditions and understand the techniques used to maintain system reliability, stability, and security. The course also develops students’ problem-solving and analytical skills through numerical calculations, practical examples, and power system studies. This knowledge helps students understand the challenges involved in power generation, transmission, and distribution and prepares them for careers in electrical power utilities, industries, and power system research.

Students should have a basic understanding of electrical circuit theory, electrical machines, power system fundamentals, and engineering mathematics. Knowledge of three-phase circuits, phasor representation, complex numbers, and fundamental electrical calculations will help students understand the course concepts effectively. Basic analytical, numerical problem-solving, and logical reasoning skills are also recommended.
